50 VIP´s from around the world, Aqua Fantasia, biggest live media covarage ever in Formula racing, Welcome to SAUDI.
Abdul Salam Fairooz have worked hard all his life for powerboatracing, and his results, both as a racer and promoter is impressive. For Saudi we will all experience what he have turned his talent into. His professional all around the year staff have really impressed me. Mr Fairooz and his partner Abdulla Saeed Mattar have over the last year build up Formula Water Sport as probably the strongest promotion company in the world for Formula racing.
In the last few days I´ve joined his active schedule, even its Ramadan and the fact that Mr Fairooz is fasting does not stop him from working 12h days. Printing material is almost ready, The promoter is lifting the F2 class to a new level, and some drivers are struggling to keep up.
T-shirts – caps – and promotion material is under production as we speak, banners – flyers and flags will hopefully build the branding that the sports need. Potential is there, no doubt, look at P1. They are really beeing miles ahead of the pack at present time.
Media in Saudi will be available thru out the world. Free signals will be distributed, and the list is already fantastic.
A small intro from the official website is enclosed; for more info goto ;
AMSTERDAM, — Saudi Arabia will host the third round in the Formula 2000 World Championship for powerboats. The event will take place during the Obhur Tourism Festival from Oct. 16 to 18 coinciding with the Eid Al-Fitr holidays.
Saudi Arabia, however, will not enter the competition. Seeing action are 20 teams from 10 countries namely United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Norway, United States and Latvia.
“There will be a federation for Marine Sports in the near future,” said Saleh Al-Duayji, director of the Saudi Youth Welfare office in Jeddah, in a press conference on Tuesday. “However, all marine activities take place through us. The Saudi Youth Welfare is the organization that coordinated with the Supreme Commission for Tourism to run this event.”
Prince Abdullah ibn Saud ibn Mohamed, head of the executive committee for the festival, said that the event would contribute in putting the Kingdom and Jeddah especially in the world tourism map. Entrance for watching the event is open for the public, families and men, and will be free of charge.
“I hope the championships in the following years will involve Saudi drivers. Marine sports are still new in the Kingdom,” the prince said.

Britons Jackie Hunt and Mike Shelton in Extremeboat have increased their lead in SuperSport Class to 110 points following another double win at the Belgian Grand Prix. But with a maximum 210 points up for grabs in the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea, the battle for the title is still wide open with Roscioli Hotels Roma, Buzzi Bullet III and VoomVoom.com the main contenders for podium places.

TIMSEEBOLDWINS IN COLORADOFOR 5TH TIME IN 7 YEARS! TORRENTE’S BADLUCKCONTINUES; RINKER 2ND & FAIRCHILD 3RD!
WINDSOR, Colorado – Sunday, September 4, 2007 – Tim Seebold waited patiently for an opportunity and took advantage of Shaun Torrente’s spark plug wire failure on the 41st of 50 laps to take his 3rd victory of the season and his 5th in 7 years in Colorado to take the 5th Round of the 2007 F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series race in front of thousands of fans at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains on Water Valley Lake in Windsor, one hour north of Denver, Colorado.
The Bud Light Seebold Race team driver was aced out on the start by Torrente as the Miami, Florida driver moved from 2nd to the lead and built up to a 10 second margin until the 17th lap when the race was red flagged when Greg Foster of Anaheim Hill, California, making his first racing appearance in two years, spun out on the apex of turn four stopping the race and forcing a restart.
Again, Torrente held the point with Seebold, the Osage Beach, Missouri driver moving from 3rd to 2nd off the start chasing the California Gold Racing driver for the next 24 laps until Torrente’s boat slowed giving the 43 year-old driver a chance to pounce into the lead that he would never relinquish to the end.
“It was a great day for the Bud Light Team and we continue to have the magic here in Windsor,” stated Seebold. “We worked hard to get the right set-up and it paid off in the end as we had to hold off a hard charging Terry Rinker and Chris Fairchild to the checkers.”
Terry Rinker in his Amsoil sponsored Leecraft boat pushed Seebold to the limit. Finally, at the one-third mark of the race, the Tampa, Florida driver got side by side and almost overtook the Missouri driver as they came through a hard 135 degree turn number four. The 2-time defending champion slid sideways and never got close enough again to make a pass and finished 1.8 seconds behind at the flag.
Chicago area driver Chris Fairchild took a well earned 3rd place closing up on the front two boats near races end and has now moved himself into 2nd place in the championship just 88 points back of Seebold. He has 2639 points with two races to go in the season and hope for his first title. “We didn’t quite have the speed today and are going back home to test some more,” said Chris. “We have a small crew and we’ve done a good job and my family has helped a lot this season. We still have a chance and will work even harder to win our first title.” Mike Seebold, the 2nd driver in the Bud Light Seebold Racing Team enjoying his 2nd ride of the season came home in 4th coming into the weekend looking forward to tackling his first win in Colorado and his all-time leading 29th victory in the history of the sport. He did his best in a boat that he had little time testing. He is now expected to focus on winning another Offshore title in Key West, Florida in November.
Torrente, had to settle for 5th place and when it was over all he could do was shake his head after winning the “B” main earlier in the day and finishing 2nd in the special Wyatt Nelson Benefit “Dash For Cash” to Tim Seebold leaving him 2nd in the starting line-up.
“I don’t know what more we could have done,” said the driver from Miami. “We had a pair of great starts, but again bad luck set in when a spark plug wire came loose and it’s another race and a moral victory to take home that’s all. What really hurts us now is that we are 145 points back in 4th in the championship with just two races left.”
Lynn Simburger of Elsah, Illinois again had a great run finishing 6th from his lowly 12th starting spot off the grid after having equipment problems in the B main. He continues to sit 5th in the championship this season and is looking to finish again in the top five for the 7th time in the last 8 seasons.
Randy Rinker of Syracuse, Indiana took home 7th place in his Amsoil sponsored boat with Jeff Shepherd in his J Shepherd Construction/Chris Fairchild Racing sponsored Pugh design came home 8th after starting 8th and sits 6th in the championship for the driver from Woodlawn, Tennessee.
Matt Sadl of Pacific, Missouri was 9th after qualifying 10th in his first race of the season, Brian Venton of Toronto, Ontario took 10th with another rookie Chuck Unkle of Thomasville, Georgia came home 11th in his new Pugh boat. Tim Fry, also in his first race from Kansas City, Missouri finished 12th.
Local favorite Greg Foster, making his first race appearance in two years, was disqualified for running illegal equipment after finishing the race in the top 5 after the full 50 laps.
The 6th Round of the 2007 F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series heads off to Phoenix, Arizona and Firebird Lake for the weekend of September 29th and 30th with four drivers still having a chance to capture the title. Four-time title holder Tim Seebold is holding a slim 88 point advantage. It will take every lap to probably determine this championship. Isn’t that what racing is all about?
For the 2nd time this summer, I had the chance to test the Nor Tech 36.
It was clearly that Aslak had a lot of seat time in the boat, as he let her run looser than the first time. take part in the action as we had a run in the Nor Tech 36 who toppe out around 128 Mph..
Wednesday, 12 September: The International Offshore Team Association (IOTA) has confirmed that it has renewed its existing agreements and signed new long-term contracts with Qatar and Dubai.
QATARANDDUBAISIGNLONG-TERMAGREEMENTS
The new agreements, signed by HE Sheikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani, president of Qatar Marine Sports Federation and Saeed Hareb, managing director of the Dubai International Marine Club, confirms that the world’s leading powerboat series will stage a minimum of four races in the Middle East for at least the next three years and demonstrates the on-going commitment of two of Class 1’s well established venues, to both IOTA and the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA). “The agreements which have just been signed with Qatar and Dubai renew those which have already existed for a long time and are a further confirmation of the excellent health and the credibility which are enjoyed by Class 1 at the present time,” said IOTA general secretary, Marco Sala, adding. “The Middle East is of fundamental importance for our Sport, not only because of the extremely high level of the events which are organised by the Qatar Marine Sports Federation and the Dubai International Marine Club, but also because of the Qatar Team and Victory Team which have found human, financial and technical resources in this area which enable them to compete worldwide at the highest level.”
In addition to the agreements with Qatar and Dubai, and with the 2007 season just reaching its mid-point, IOTA is in an enviable position of being able confirm a minimum of eight races in 2008, with the organisers of the races in Arendal and Oslo, Norway, Mamaia-Constanta in Romania and Porto Marina, Egypt all on multi-year contracts.
